Did You Take Advantage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Family Glitch in 2023?

Have you heard about the #ACA family glitch? It’s an issue that’s been impacting countless families across America , causing difficulties when it comes to accessing affordable healthcare.

Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), if an employer offers “affordable” healthcare coverage to an employee, then that employee’s family members can’t receive subsidies for health coverage through the marketplace. Here’s the glitch – “affordable” is defined only by the cost of coverage for the employee alone, not taking into account the cost for their entire family.

This means that many families are caught in the #FamilyGlitch – unable to afford the high premiums to add their dependents to employer-provided insurance, but also ineligible for financial assistance through ACA marketplaces.

Healthcare should not be a luxury, and families should not have to choose between their health and their finances. There is a need to reevaluate and reform this definition of “affordable coverage” to ensure it is truly inclusive and considers the entire family.

Join us in raising awareness about this critical issue. Share this post, start a conversation, and let’s work together to advocate for changes that will help all families access the healthcare they need.
